Maywood Pedestrian Hit In Saddle Brook Walking In Road, Police Say

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- Preliminary indications were that a 53-year-old Maywood man who was hospitalized with leg and head injuries after being struck by a car in Saddle Brook tonight was walking in the road, authorities said.

A black Hyundai Elantra hit the victim around 7 p.m. outside the Bennigans restaurant on North Midland Avenue, Police Chief Robert Kugler told Daily Voice.

Saddle Brook EMS took him to Hackensack University Medical Center, the chief said.

Preliminary indications were that he was "walking in the roadway contrary to applicable laws of the road," Kugler said.
