Jhony Garcia, 48, of Bay Shore, was being held on $250,000 in the Bergen County Jail, charged with sexual assault, criminal sexual contact and child endangerment, after he turned himself in to authorities on Sunday.
An arraignment was conducted yesterday, before news of the arrest was released.
The girl and her paternal aunt went to police last month, then had an interview with the prosecutor’s detectives in which the teen “provided specific details as to what occurred between her and [Garcia],” Molinelli said this afternoon.
Members of the prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit and the Elmwood Park Police Department then obtained a warrant for Garcia’s arrest, he said.
