Leaky gas valve in science lab clears Elmwood Park school

UPDATE: A leaky gas valve in a science lab prompted the evacuation of Elmwood Park High School/Middle School for about an hour this morning.

PSE&G responded and replaced the valve in the general science lab on the second floor of the 3rd wing of the high school around 9:30 a.m., Police Chief Michael Foligno said.

The building was then vented and everyone returned around 10:30, the chief said.
