RISK AREAS:
* The area at the greatest risk for severe weather is generally Mercer and Monmouth counties to the south, as denoted by the “red” in the map from the NWS-Storm Prediction Center.
* There is also a severe risk for the area in yellow — the remainder of New Jersey — but not as high. Be alert.
THREATS:
* Supercell thunderstorms, producing /mainly/ damaging winds, but the potential exists for large hail and isolated tornadoes.
* Torrential rainfall, which is a problem because the ground is saturated. This will exacerbate flooding in areas that have dealt or still dealing with high water levels. A flood watch is in effect for all NJ counties, excluding Cumberland, Atlantic, and Cape May.
TIMING:
* Thursday afternoon/evening through very early Friday.
Improving conditions Friday morning into the afternoon/evening hours.
