Officers working with city police seized Randy Pagan, 19, without incident at the Lee Street residence at 11 a.m., Police Chief Michael Foligno said.

Two days earlier, Paterson police arrested a co-defendant, 19-year-old Daryl Rodriguez, Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale said.

Both men opened fire from a car on Market Street the night of Dec. 7, hitting a nearby house several times, the director said.

"Fortunately nobody was hit by the gunfire," he said.

City Detectives Benny Ramos, Jason English, and Mary Martinez responded.

Through "tireless efforts," the detectives identified Rodriguez and Pagan, Speziale said.

A search of Pagan's home turned up a black Ruger MK II handgun, 5.5 ounces of cocaine, an ounce of heroin packaged for sale in hundreds of small bags and 500 empty packaging bags, the chief said.

A judge ordered Pagan held on $250,000 bail on a variety of drug and weapons charges out of Elmwood Park. Paterson charges were pending.

Rodriguez was being held on $1 million bail in the Passaic County Jail.
