Elmwood Park man charged with having sex with girl, 14

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: An unemployed 36-year-old Elmwood Park man posted $50,000 bail and was released yesterday following his arrest on charges of having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Rene Casteneda was charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact and child endangerment following an investigation by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit and Elmwood Park police.

The girl “disclosed what had taken place to a teacher,” who contacted local police, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this morning.

They then called his and the girl was interviewed last week, he said.

She “provided specific details regarding what had occurred,” leading to Castaneda’s arrest, the prosecutor said.
