The 49-year-old victim told police that he was driving his 2013 Toyota towards the Jersey-bound entrance Wednesday night when he got into an argument at Varick and Broome Streets with a relative of his, 29-year-old Joel A. Estevez, who was driving a 2013 Honda wagon.

Once in the tunnel, Estevez began hitting his car with the machete, damaging it, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said the victim told police.

The man said he followed Estevez’s vehicle over the Pulaski Skyway onto Routes 1&9, where he lost sight of it.

PAPD detectives tracked down Estevez and arrested him at his apartment on Thursday, Pentangelo said.

He was charged with weapons offenses, simple assault and criminal mischief.
