The woman slowed her 2009 Volkswagen Jetta at the light on the highway's westbound side at Fifth Street when it struck the pole around 8 a.m., Police Chief Robert Kugler told Daily Voice.

"The pole fell and debris struck another car stopped at the light, but it was only minor damage," Kugler said.

The VW had to be towed, however.
