Aversa gave an extra special thanks to Elmwood Park police “for their tireless efforts” in finding the 7½ weeks old English bulldog, as well as to the Phillipsburg police.

Blackie’s theft and the search for him became a Facebook phenomenon, with hundreds of people posting comments and sharing information.

With such exposure, many believed it was only a matter of time before someone who knew the couple would drop a dime.
