Adelbert W. Makle, 49, remained held on $300,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault with a weapon and various weapons counts in connection with the May holdup.

Makle asked an employee for help finding an item in the back of the store, then "produced a large knife and demanded money," acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said Monday.

What Makle didn't know, the prosecutor said, was that another employee was in the store.

Both workers fled while Makle opened the register and grabbed cash, he said.

Following a 14-month investigation, detectives from Grewal's Special Investigations Squad and Saddle Brook police tracked down and caught Makle in Newark on Friday, the prosecutor said.
