SADDLE BROOK, N.J. – Peter J. Punzo, a resident of Saddle Brook, died Thursday, March 17.
Born in Englewood, he’s been a resident of Saddle Brook for the past 43 years. He worked for the Saddle Brook D.P.W. for 16 years, retiring in 2006. He served on the Saddle Brook Zoning Board of Adjustment from 2003-07. He also was a member and past vice chair of the Saddle Brook Planning Board. He also was a member for many years and currently served as a co-chair of the Saddle Brook Community Projects and Activities Committee and organized a petting zoo for the children during the Easter Egg hunts. He was a member of the Saddle Brook Democratic Organization and past member of the Democratic County Committee.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Kathleen Reid and Harry Reid; his brother, Christopher and his wife Dana; his sisters, Denise Maher and her husband Thomas and Debra Punzo-Kloss and her husband Joseph; his step-sisters, Donna Johnansen and her husband Thomas, Kathleen Garafano and her husband David, Patricia Reid and Tracey Reid; his nephews, Matthew Maher, Andrew Punzo and Nicholas Punzo; and his nieces, Cristina Punzo and Paige Kloss.
He was predeceased by his father, Peter A. Punzo.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday from the Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home Inc., 274 Market St., Elmwood Park. The funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. at St. Philip’s R.C. Church, Saddle Brook. Interment to follow at Madonna Cemetery, Fort Lee.
Visiting will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brook Volunteer Ambulance Corp or the American Diabetes Association.
