Helen (Waraske) Beshlian, 97, Elmwood Park Resident

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. -- Helen (Waraske) Beshlian, of Elmwood Park, died on Friday, Jan. 13. She was 97.

Born and raised in Paterson, Beshlian was "a faithful member of Van Riper-Ellis-Broadway Baptist Church where she was blessed to enjoy decades of sweet fellowship," information from the funeral home notes. "She enjoyed spending winters in Florida, entertaining and playing bridge."

In her earlier years, she was a licensed beautician and managed a beauty salon. She was also a licensed real estate agent.

Beshlian is survived by her children, Robert Beshlian and his wife Debra, Sandy Kopcho, and Pat Kavanaugh; grandcildren Michael Kavanaugh, Kelly Delozier, Tara Sanchez, Susannah Kopcho, Melanie Ekert and Lauren Beshlian; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, George.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday morning, Jan. 17, at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, in Fair Lawn. Entombment was in George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus.
