ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. – Eustace R. Roper, Jr., of Elmwood Park, died Wednesday, June 1. He was 91.
Born and raised in Jersey City, he had been a resident of Elmwood Park the past 66 years. He was the owner of Klinger Tire Co. in Jersey City for 25 years and retired in 1997. He was a World War II veteran on a destroyer in the U.S. Navy.
He was the husband of the late Mabel (Bunomo) Roper; father of George M., Maryann Roper, with Charles Cox, and Diane and her husband, Ed Parsells; brother of Frances Rodriguez; grandfather of Eric and his wife, Laura, Ashley, Michael, Keith and Bridget; great-grandfather of Liam, Paige and James Eustace; and longtime companion to Nancy Calabria of Secaucus.
He was predeceased by his brothers and a sister.
Visiting hours will take place from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home, 274 Market St., Elmwood Park. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Leo's Church, Elmwood Park. Cremation is private.
