Daisy Troop 96819 spent time this week singing holiday songs and handing out homemade ornaments to patients at the Kessler Rehabilitation Center in Saddle Brook.

“They really were excited giving out the ornaments to the residents. When the residents said ‘thank you,’ the girls had these cute little smiles on their faces,” troop co-leader Melissa Rhodes said of the 5 and 6-year-olds.

The girls had so much fun handing out the ornaments, Rhodes said, that “they wanted to give out more and more, so some of the residents were getting two.”

But the girls did manage to save some so they could help decorate the Christmas tree at the rehab center, Rhodes said.

Rhodes and co-leader Melissa Colone helped the girls make the homemade beaded candy cane ornaments during their last meeting.

“We were hoping to do something for the holidays, and Kessler is right in our town, so we thought it would be an easy way to introduce the girls to helping others during this time of year,” Rhodes said.
