The Saddle Brook College Planning Workshop runs at 7-8:30 p.m. and is free. Pre-registration is required. 

The event is being sponsored by the College Benefits Research Group and is for parents of college-bound high school students. Strategies for maximizing a family’s college financial aid and lowering out-of-pocket costs will be covered.

Additionally, parents can speak with an academic planner who can discuss the selection and admissions process, essay writing and interviewing skills.

The workshop will reveal what parents of high school students need to know as they take on the challenge of college applications, acceptances and costs.

Topics to be discussed include:

  • How colleges treat standardized tests
  • How to choose the right college
  • How colleges choose their students
  • A timeline for success
  • How to pay for college
  • Different types of financial aid

Also to be discussed is how families may be able to save thousands of dollars on college tuition.

College Benefits Research Group’s community workshops are held throughout the state and explain in detail many strategies one can employ to find the best college “fit.”
