"This was an event that doesn't happen year after year," Councilman Joe Dombrowski said. "The many volunteers who worked long and hard to create and organize this Parade and the many other Centennial festivities throughout the year have done an amazing job.
"It's because of them that our residents got to share in a piece of Elmwood Park history."
The prize for best float went to the Let them Be Little X2 Foundation -- created by Jeff Leider, it featured superheroes.
Other participants included St. Leo’s, the History Committee, Spencer Bank, The Riverman, and North Jersey Federal Credit Union.
The Elmwood Park High School band and alumni band played along with other marching bands: Fusion Core; Philadelphia Mummer’s Marching String Band; the Hawthorne Caballeros; Morristown Drum Line; the Princeton Bushwhackers; and the marching bands from Garfield, Lodi and Saddle Brook high schools.
Classic cars, fire trucks, ambulances, and police cars traveled the parade route.
EPHS alumnae Cora Ann Mihalik, a former Fox 5 anchorwoman, walked along with the mayor and council. Hollywood stunt woman Diane Peterson rode on horseback.
Elmwood Park Girl Scouts and Brownies, Cub Scouts Pack 8, and Boy Scout Troop 80 marched as well.
The fair had food – including fried Oreos and Puerto Rican cuisine – mechanical rides, and inflatables, along with local vendors offering face painting, antique appraisals and more.
Free Shrimp, The Bucket List, and Carnaby Street all performed after the parade.
Organizers closed the night with a laser light show.
