Man Struck, Killed By Train Was First Of Two NJ Transit Fatalities Wednesday Night A man was fatally struck by a train in South Orange on Wednesday, Dec. 13, in one of two fatal transit strikes that evening, NJ Transit said. At 7:37 p.m., a train not in passenger service, fatally injured the pedestrian west of the South Orange station, NJ Transit said. The train was being moved eastbound on the Morris and Essex Line and no customers were on board and no crew were injured, NJ Transit said. Some Details Released In Fatal North Bergen Pedestrian Crash A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on Friday, Dec. 9 on Tonnelle Avenue, authorities said. The woman was struck by a tractor trailer driver near 91st Street around noon, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said. Responding officers found the lifeless body of a woman and she was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the tractor trailer, a 38-year-old Texas man, continued on Tonnelle Avenue, stopped in the area of 68th Street, and called 911. No arrests had been made as of Saturday morning.
