A witness reported seeing one of the men waist-deep in the river during a search that included Bergen County Sheriff’s K9 officers, boats, and both county and local police from surrounding towns following the Crescent Road break-in last Thursday.

Detectives also got help from other citizens, as well as police in Garfield, East Rutherford and Passaic, Police Chief Carmello Imbruglia said this afternoon.

Arrested by Detective Lt. Shawn Kudlacik at his Passaic home yesterday was Brian A. Krevolt, 26 (inset, above).

Still at large was James Pellett, also 26, of Garfield (above), Imbruglia said..

The homeowners called police after surprising the intruders and finding their house ransacked around 1 p.m.

Both men were white — one with blond hair and black shorts and the other wearing a grey t-shirt and tan shorts, they said.

“We’re following leads,” Kudlacik said at the time, noting that a pair of gloves were among the items dropped by the fleeing bandits that police recovered.
