Officer Brad Dussault pulled over a 2013 Toyota on Boulevard and Columbus Avenue just after 8 p.m. last Saturday after witnessing a drug deal, Detective Lt. Michael Colaneri told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
Spotting drug paraphernalia out in the open, he sought consent to search the car, but the driver refused, Colaneri said.
So the car was impounded and the trio was released, he said.
A Bergen County Sheriff’s K-9 unit dog indicated drugs and detectives obtained a search warrant, the lieutenant said.
Besides the drugs, they found packaging materials, scales and other paraphernalia, he said.
Warrants were issued and arrests were made Monday.
Joshua Swift, 20, of Elmwood Park (above, left), and Evan C. Gobrili, 21, of Rutherford (right), were being held on $35,000 bail each in the Bergen County Jail.
They ware charged with six counts each of distributing and possessing drugs, as well as possessing drug paraphernalia.
The Rutherford teen was released to his mother.
