Ridgewood police are attempting to locate two people who attempted a residential burglary in the village on Thursday, Feb. 15. At 5:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of a package theft at a home in the area of Northern Parkway and East Glen Avenue, Ridgewood police said. The homeowner said when they arrived home they confronted two people inside their residence, police said. The duo fled north on foot across East Glen Avenue into a waiting getaway vehicle, a newer model red or burgundy colored Jeep Grand Cherokee, police said. Pedestrian Struck, Road Closed In Ridgewood
A pedestrian was struck and severely injured outside the Ridgewood Public Library late Monday afternoon. Police found the male victim bleeding from the head near the crosswalk following the crash on North Maple Avenue near the Village Shopping Center shortly before 4:30 p.m. Oct. 30. A medical chopper was placed on standby, but the victim was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center by ambulance. The driver of the Volvo S60 remained at the scene. Power Knocked Out, Road Temporarily Closed When Contractor's Truck Downs Pole In Ridgewood
A home contractor's truck toppled a utility pole, knocking out power to some customers and temporarily closing busy East Ridgewood Avenue between North Maple Avenue and North Irving Street. The Home Improvements driver out of Park Ridge escaped serious injury when the pole fell on East Ridgewood Avenue around 10 a.m. Monday, July 24. SUV Versus Tree In Ridgewood: Driver, 17, Injured
A 17-year-old driver was hospitalized following a head-on crash into a tree on a Ridgewood cul-de-sac. The Honda CR-V got the worst of the collision on Mulberry Place near North Maple Avenue shortly after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 22. All Points towing removed the vehicle. Police: Wrong-Way Hit-Run DWI Driver Mounts Ridgewood Sidewalk, Plows Over Parking Signs
An Upper Saddle River motorist was drunk when he drove into oncoming traffic and onto a Ridgewood sidewalk, knocking over parking signs, before his SUV slammed into another vehicle several blocks away, authorities said. Sparks flew after an unlicensed Ridgewood hit-and-run driver struck a utility pole in Glen Rock with his muscle car and sped off on three wheels and a rim, authorities said. Christopher Loehwing, 49, parked the smashed-up Charger in a shopping center lot outside his apartment more than a mile away following Wednesday night’s crash, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. A victim was hospitalized and a man was jailed for stabbing and slashing him with a broken bottle during a fight in Ridgewood, authorities said Monday. A chain-reaction crash Monday afternoon in Ridgewood sent three people to the hospital. A fourth occupant refused medical attention following the crash shortly before 1:30 p.m. at Linwood and North Maple avenues. If you expected to watch the Ridgewood 4th of July fireworks show from Stevens Field or the one at the high school on Thursday, you'll have to make other plans. The turf on both is being redone, closing the facilities. "We usually get a few thousand people sitting on the fields," Police Chief Jaqueline Luthcke said. Medical Episode Triggers Ridgewood Crash
A driver having an apparent medical episode was involved in a crash Wednesday that sent both vehicles off a Ridgewood roadway onto nearby lawns. The driver was taken by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center following the crash in front of 522 North Maple Avenue. No other injuries were reported. A flatbed tow truck removed both wrecks from the scene. Ridgewood Pedestrian Seriously Injured By Pickup Truck
A pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a pickup truck Friday morning in Ridgewood. The young man was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that responders appeared serious but not life-threatening following the crash at the intersection of North Maple and East Ridgewood avenues. Winds Topple Ridgewood Utility Poles
RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- High winds Wednesday toppled two utility poles in Ridgewood. The two poles tipped in a PSE&G right of way off North Maple Avenue. The right of way, which supports high tension electric lines running between sub stations in Fair Lawn and Waldwick, abuts a popular athletic field complex and running/walking track. Ridgewood police firefighters and Emergency Services personnel secured the area until PSE&G crews could repair the damage. Boyd A. Loving contributed to this report.
