One person was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash that sent an SUV careening onto a lawn in Ridgewood on Wednesday morning, Nov. 20. The collision, which occurred near a residential and commercial structure at South Maple Avenue and Dayton Street, left one victim with a non-life-threatening back and neck injury. Erik J. Midgley, a dedicated Bergen County Public Safety dispatcher and lifelong community volunteer, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov. 10, according to his obituary on the Hunt-Stellato Funeral Home website. He was 47 years old. Known for his reassuring presence during emergencies, Erik spent many years as the calming voice on the other end of the line for those in crisis, his obituary says. One person was hospitalized with serious injuries after plunging out of a moving vehicle along the New Jersey Turnpike, police said.
