Nominations Open for Yonkers Teacher of the Year YONKERS, N.Y. -- The Yonkers Kiwanis Club, in partnership, with the City of Yonkers and Yonkers Board of Education, will present the 2017 Teacher of the Year Awards to three deserving members of the Yonkers Public Schools faculty. Bronxville High Chorus Students Get Behind-The-Scenes Tour of Opera House BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Eighteen Bronxville High School chorus students had the opportunity to tour the Metropolitan Opera House backstage and see the production of “Carmen” on Friday, Jan. 27. HH Land Trust To Protect 350 Acres Of Putnam Valley's Granite Mountain PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Hudson Highlands Land Trust (HHLT) recently announced its acquisition of three land parcels to permanently conserve more than 350 acres on Granite Mountain in Putnam Valley. The group secured the land parcels to create a new preserve protecting valuable natural resources and providing public access to the unspoiled space in the heart of town, according to a release from HHLT. Sleepy Hollow Middle School Team Advances In Lego Robotics Competition SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. -- Sleepy Hollow Middle School's Headless Horsebots placed third in the First Lego League Robotics competition, held Saturday, Jan. 28, at SHMS. Middle school students from throughout the region competed in teams while Sleepy Hollow teachers, parents and student volunteers judged and ran the tournament, according to a release from SHMS. Yorktown High School's Yearbook Named One Of The Best In The Country YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Yorktown High School's yearbook, The Emerald, earned a first-place award in the 2016 American Scholastic Press Association contest/review. The annual publication is planned and produced by a group of students as part of YHS club led by advisers Benedetta Varotta and Daniel Moore.
