Ridgewood High Organizes New Jersey Championship History Bee & Bowl

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Approximately 100 students from across New Jersey gathered at Ridgewood High School for the NJ State Championship History Bee & Bowl.

Sunday's History Bee & Bowl is a competitive trivia series created by Ridgewood High School alumnus Dave Madden. 

Students and teams are pitted against each other in a "Jeopardy!" style trivia game pertaining to questions about history.

"This was our best-attended regional or state-level tournament ever," Madden said.

The medalists in the New Jersey State Championship History Bee & Bowl are as follows:

Varsity History Bee

Gold: Emmett Laurie, East Brunswick High School (East Brunswick, NJ)

Silver: Andrew Huang, High Technology High School (Lincroft, NJ)

Bronze: Samuel Kao, High Technology High School (Lincroft, NJ)

Junior Varsity Bee

Gold: Nathan Finn, Leonia High School (Leonia, NJ)

Silver: Andre Altherr, Hunter College High School (New York, NY)

Bronze: Daniel Ma, Hunter College High School (New York, NY)

Varsity History Bowl

Hunter College High Team A (New York, NY) defeated High Technology High School (Lincroft, NJ) in the final

JV History Bowl

Hunter College High Team B (New York, NY) def. Newark Academy (Livingston, NJ) in the final
