BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. — Several municipalities in Bergen County were included on creditdonkey.com's list of "Safest Cities in New Jersey 2016."

The study focused on municipalities with 10,000 residents or more, creditdonkey.com said.

Key indicators of safe cities include:

  • Number of violent crimes per 1,000 residents
  • Number of robberies per 1,000 residents (with special attention to robbery and burglary)
  • Number of property crimes per 1,000 residents
  • Number of burglaries per 1,000 residents (special attention to robbery and burglary)
