Police Outsmart Gunman Trying To Flee Through Window After Jersey City Shootout
A 35-year-old Jersey City man who thought he'd be able to escape police by jumping out a window after a shootout was outsmarted by officers already canvassing the scene, authorities said. Police responding to reports of shots fired at MLK Drive and Wilkinson Avenue found Dawkins and another man shooting each other around 3:35 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, Jersey City spokeswoman Kimberly Wallace-Scalcione said. Federal authorities have charged a reputed gang member from Jersey City with murder in the shooting death of a rival during a running feud between allied crews. Acting U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Rachael A. Honig announced Tuesday that her office has taken over the prosecution of Phillip Wiggins Jr. of Newark for the March 31, 2020 slaying of Damone “Munch” Smith. 13-Year-Old Girl Charged With Murder In Shooting Death Of Jersey City Man
A 13-year-old girl was charged with murder in the shooting death of a 35-year-old man in Jersey City earlier this month, authorities said. The teen was apprehended and arrested by Jersey City police just before 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve, near Union Street and MLK Drive, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. It was not clear how Holmes, of Jersey City, and the teen knew each other. Second Person Killed In Jersey City Since Saturday
The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old Jersey City man Tuesday night. Markell Albright had been shot multiple times and was unresponsive when police responding to a report of gunfire found him around 8:20 p.m. near 125 Wilkinson Ave. He was pronounced dead at Jersey City Medical Center about a half-hour later.
