1950s Style Bar Coming To Bergen County
A 1950s style bar is coming to Bergen County later this spring. Gus' Last Word will be located at on Valley Boulevard in Wood Ridge, replacing Angeloni's. The website says the bar is a "love letter to the classic bars of the 1950s" and will focus on cocktails, icy drafts and comforting American fare. The bar will be "centered around the warm hospitality we were raised on," its website says. The owners are apparently the same team at the helm of Cowan’s Public in Nutley and the Barrow House in Clifton. Gus' Last Word, 191 Valley Blvd., Wood-Ridge.

Cousin Vinny's In Wood-Ridge Shutters
Cousin Vinny's in Wood-Ridge has closed. The Italian restaurant opened last June, replacing Angeloni's Restaurant & Pizzeria on Valley Boulevard. Cousin Vinny's officially shuttered Sunday, Dec. 1. The 3,600-square-foot building is listed with Delaney Restaurant Realty and has an asking price of $1.25 million.

'Struggling' Basile's Pizza To Close Wood-Ridge Shop
Basile's Pizza will be closing up shop in Wood-Ridge after 11 years. The Valley Boulevard pizzeria made the announcement last week on Facebook, saying catering only will be offered as of June 10. "It’s killing me that I just had to tell my employees about this," Sam Lazzaro said. "I’ve been struggling for a long time. "We are so heartbroken."

Wood-Ridge Couple Preps To Open Empanada Shop
Wood-Ridge, N.J. – A new specialty empanada shop is opening in Wood-Ridge later this month. The Empanada Shop announced its January 19 grand opening on Instagram. The shop – located at 251 B Valley Boulevard – is the brainchild of Joni Caldera and Nelson Contreras, an Italian and Dominican couple, who lives in Wood-Ridge and “enjoys cooking empanadas together and sharing them with family & friends,” according to the shop’s website. “Joni and Nelson are known to bring empanadas to every party they attend.
