2 Vehicles Badly Damaged In Crash At Major Hackensack Roadway, Route 17 Ramp
A crash that severely damaged two vehicles closed a major Hackensack roadway and Route 17 entrance ramp on Tuesday morning, May 7. A Hyundai hatchback driven by a 55-year-old Hackensack woman and Toyota SUV driven by a 50-year-old Lodi man collided just before 10:30 a.m. on South Summit Avenue just past the Route 17 southbound entrance ramp, Hackensack Police Capt. Three Cuban nationals from out of the area were busted by a Mahwah police officer who stopped their tractor on Route 17 and found a loaded gun, cocaine and more, authorities said. HEROES: Waldwick firefighters completed what authorities called an "extremely difficult operation" by freeing a driver whose sedan had crashed in a wooded area off rain-slicked Route 17. In nothing short of a miracle, no serious injuries were reported after a gas tanker truck exploded into a huge fireball on Route 17 Monday morning. A used car dealership and many of its two dozen or so vehicles were destroyed in the five-alarm blaze after the truck and a passenger vehicle collided near the U-turn at the White Castle on the highway's southbound side in Hasbrouck Heights at 5:43 a.m. Jan. 8. All signs point to the death of a 56-year-old guest at a Holiday Inn off Route 17 as the result of a medical emergency, possibly a heart attack. But it’s not official yet. Teterboro Airport Noise Has Gotten Worse, Says New Pascack Valley Group Fighting
For residents in the Pascack Valley region, the noise from private planes flying into Teterboro Airport has become a quality of life issue. Taxpayers for Airport Noise Solutions (TANS) is a new organization that has formed to give a voice to those grievances.
