All Lanes Of Route 17 Closed By Overturned Construction Equipment In East Rutherford
Traffic was halted along Route 17 Tuesday morning, Oct. 29 due to debris that fell off a tractor trailer in East Rutherford. As of 10 a.m., all southbound lanes, south of East Union Avenue, were closed. Traffic cameras show cars backed up in the southbound lanes and what appeared to be overturned construction equipment. Daily Voice has obtained the mugshot of the 18-year-old Range Rover SUV driver who police say was intoxicated when he caused a weekend crash that left an officer seriously injured on Route 17. Aviation Repair Shop Damaged By Vehicle That Rolled Off Tow Truck On Route 17 In Has Heights
A truck being towed down Route 17 fell off the tow truck and seriously damaged a building overnight, firefighters said. The Hasbrouck Heights and Wood-Ridge fire departments were called to the southbound side of the highway around midnight. There, they found the antique truck into the side of Miraj Corporation, an aircraft repair company, at 345 Route 17. While no injuries were reported, the impact caused significant damage to the building, the fire department said.

Water Main Break Floods Portion Of Route 17 In Paramus
A water main break flooded a portion of Route 17 in Paramus on Friday, Sept. 27 around noon. Veolia Water responded to the scene to mitigate the leak, and the right lane of Route 17 South will be closed until further notice, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said. As a result, the Chipotle and the Ashley Furniture complex have been temporarily closed. Water has been flowing into the driveway and undermining parts of the highway, however, Veolia has shut the water, the chief said. A 37-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Route 17 in Bergen County on Tuesday, Sept. 10, police said. Police responding to multiple 911 calls of a motorcyclist down on the southbound side of the highway near the Essex Street ramp in Maywood found the operator unresponsive and not breathing just before 10:30 a.m., Maywood Police Detective Sgt. A 32-year-old New York man is facing charges in Paramus, NJ for pretending he was held at knifepoint in one location when, in fact, he was burglarizing another, police said. Route 17 Pursuit Leads To Eventual Arrest Of Hit-Run Wood-Ridge Driver, Police Say
A 50-year-old hit-and-run driver was arrested after police say he led a pursuit along Route 17 last week. Vincent Vespe, of Montvale, struck another vehicle in a white Toyota Tacoma in Wood-Ridge on Aug. 19, Lyndhurst Police Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. In nothing short of a miracle, no serious injuries were reported after a gas tanker truck exploded into a huge fireball on Route 17 Monday morning. A used car dealership and many of its two dozen or so vehicles were destroyed in the five-alarm blaze after the truck and a passenger vehicle collided near the U-turn at the White Castle on the highway's southbound side in Hasbrouck Heights at 5:43 a.m. Jan. 8.
