$31,680 In Suspected Drug Money Seized In Targeted Fort Lee Traffic Stop
Detectives seized $31,680 in suspected drug money during a targeted traffic stop of an unemployed Fort Lee man, authorities said. Members of Musella’s Narcotic Task Force and Fort Lee police stopped Alexander Mercado, 40, of First Street off Irving Avenue on Dec. 19 as part of an ongoing investigation, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Mercado was charged with money laundering and released pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack. Musella’s people held onto the cash pending a forfeiture hearing, also in Superior Court in Hackensack.

A 73-year-old Guatemalan national living in Palisades Park who was charged with the death of an 11-month-old baby had allegedly been treating people in the area for years -- including the dead infant's older brother. UPDATE: A Bergen County-based insurance underwriter for entertainers, athletes and corporate executives was released pending court action on child porn charges, records show. Matthew Heitman, 33, was arrested Thursday during a raid of his Hackensack home, Prosecutor Mark Musella said. An assistant Bergen County voting machine custodian from Wallington was charged with sexually assaulting two pre-teens, said authorities who fear that there may be others. Fort Lee Company President Stole $75G From Business Partner, Prosecutor Says
A 60-year-old Fort Lee man is accused of stealing more than $75,000 from his company and business partner, authorities announced Thursday. Authorities last December got a tip that Kevin K. Shon was suspected of stealing from his business partner and Bergen County-based company, Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Shon's LinkedIn profile shows he's the president of Electro-Mec Products, a national electric and automation equipment distributor.
