Fair Lawn High School's principal has issued a statement following a news report alleging anti-Semitism at a recent club fair. A report by the NY Post published Sunday, Oct. 6 says that Israeli flags and yellow ribbons representing the Israeli hostages Oct. 7, 2023 were banned at the Wednesday, Oct. 2 club fair, as administrators felt they were "too political." A Middletown woman died after she was found unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle, authorities said. Middletown police responded to the report of a vehicle that drove off the road near the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Collinson Drive at around 12:36 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, the department said in a news release. Officers found 60-year-old Carol Calvano unresponsive and slumped over the steering wheel. After officers performed CPR, paramedics rushed Calvano to HMH Riverview Medical Center. A funeral service is scheduled this week for 32-year-old Fair Lawn native William "Billy" Hennecke. Hennecke was graduated from Fair Lawn High School and Bergen County Tech, where he studied carpentry, his obituary says. He went on to work as an irrigation technician for Garden State Irrigation and Lighting. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing in local lakes and rivers and riding dirt bikes with family and friends. A 32-year-old driver from Fair Lawn was killed when his car struck a utility pole on Route 208 early Thanksgiving evening.
