Best High Schools: New Jersey Well-Represented In New National Rankings
New Jersey is well-represented in brand-new rankings of the nation's best high schools. US News & World report released its annual list on Tuesday morning, April 23. The rankings were determined by performance on state-required tests, graduation, and how well they prepare students for college. Two New Jersey schools made the top 50 in the U.S: High Technology High School in Lincroft at No. 24, and Edison Academy Magnet School at No. 42. Funeral Service Scheduled For William Hennecke, 32, Of Fair Lawn
A funeral service is scheduled this week for 32-year-old Fair Lawn native William "Billy" Hennecke. Hennecke was graduated from Fair Lawn High School and Bergen County Tech, where he studied carpentry, his obituary says. He went on to work as an irrigation technician for Garden State Irrigation and Lighting. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing in local lakes and rivers and riding dirt bikes with family and friends. Hennecke, who died in a tragic Thanksgiving Day accident, is survived by his parents Hans and Eileen. He also leaves his sisters, Maureen Flax and her husb…

Fair Lawn Native, 32, Killed In Route 208 Thanksgiving Day Crash
A 32-year-old driver from Fair Lawn was killed when his car struck a utility pole on Route 208 early Thanksgiving evening. William Hennecke was driving his 2002 Porsche Boxter convertible when it veered off the southbound highway and into a utility pole just past Maple Avenue shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 23, Fair Lawn police said. A former Garfield resident spent Columbus Day campaigning to rename a public school in town. “Christopher Columbus did not discover America, but[,] rather, stole and destroyed the land and history of [i]ndigenous [p]eoples who continue to suffer from his actions today,” Venise J. Alexander Michael Cortez Babia of Teaneck died on Aug. 5. He was 28 years old.
