Cat Rescued From Burning Home In Wood-Ridge
Firefighters and police officers saved a cat from a burning home Wednesday evening, Oct. 9 in Bergen County. Responders made entry to the home at 198 Main Ave. in Wood-Ridge around 6 p.m., where they found the animal, sources tell Daily Voice Companies from Wood-Ridge, Lodi, Moonachie and Hasbrouck Heights responded. Several horses were medically treated after the trailers they were being towed in were struck on the New Jersey Turnpike Tuesday, Sept. 10, firefighters said. Lightning Strike Causes Fire At Turtle Back Zoo, Officials Say
A North Jersey zoo erupted in flames after being struck by lightning on Wednesday, Aug. 28, officials said. West Orange responders got a call from the Turtle Back Zoo saying its Sea Turtle Recovery Building had been struck by lightning around 9:45 p.m., a spokesperson for the town said. A one-year-old seal is recovering after he was bitten by a shark on Christmas Day in Surf City on Long Beach Island. When Marine Mammal Stranding Center, based in Brigantine, arrived on the scene, they said they found the yearling suffering from a large laceration on his left hip and wounds on his abdomen and around his tail. The seal was transported to the center for medical treatment and staff administered fluids and flushed out his wounds, MMSC said.
