Michael Estwanick, 32 — whose social media profiles indicate he works as a software engineer for Amazon — was taken into custody around 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, after officers responded to a reported dispute in the Richfield neighborhood, according to Clifton Police Lt. Robert Anderson.
Investigators say a 46-year-old male acquaintance had arrived at Estwanick’s home when the two got into an argument. While the man stood near the street, Estwanick allegedly pointed a handgun at his head and pulled the trigger, police said. No round was fired.
Estwanick cooperated with officers at the scene, and a Springfield XDS 9mm handgun was recovered from inside the home, Anderson said. The gun was unloaded and had no magazine when found, he added.
Estwanick was arrested and charged with aggravated assault (pointing a firearm) and possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose
He was transported to the Passaic County Sheriff's Office Corrections Hub, pending a court appearance in CJP Court, Anderson said.
