BCC professor from Wood-Ridge killed in wrong-way crash took ADHD drugs, report says

UPDATE: A 26-year-old Bergen Community College psychology professor who was killed after she crashed a stolen SUV while driving the wrong way on a Middlesex County highway had taken Adderall or similar ADHD medication before her death, according to a published report.

However, the drugs’ role in the crash was unclear, the report says.

Ashley Sara Chieco, 26, had a blood-alcohol level of .189 – more than double the legal limit – at the time of her autopsy, as CLIFFVIEW PILOT previously reported. However, blood tests also showed that her blood “was positive for Adderall or similar medication used to treat Attention Deficit Disorder and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder,” Nj.com is reporting.

Chieco had a prescription for the medication, police said.

She drank vodka with a friend for hours on Aug. 16, 2013 at Martell’s Tiki Bar in Point Pleasant Beach before getting into the wrong SUV and trying to drive home. READ MORE ….
