A 29-year-old Newark man faces up to 10 years in state prison after he was recently convicted of robbing a Capitol One bank in Newark in 2021, authorities said. On July 3, 2021, Esau Grant walked into the Springfield Avenue bank and passed a note to a teller that read: I have a gun, give me all the money from the register please and no one will get hurt," Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. A 51-year-old Newark man who struck a teenage girl in his friend's BMW abandoned the car on the NJ Turnpike before surrendering to police, authorities said. The 15-year-old girl was crossing Bergen Street at Springfield Avenue when she was struck by Jimmy Jones around 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said. A 39-year-old woman has been charged with killing a 34-year-old man whose body was found in a Newark parking lot late last month, authorities said. Stephanie Martinez was captured on video and identified as a suspect in the 8:58 a.m. killing of Raul Rios on Sept. 28, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. The man who had a hot pink dye pack explode on him moments after robbing a Newark bank was arrested Monday, authorities said. City resident Esau Grant walked into the Springfield Avenue Capital One Bank Saturday morning and slipped the teller a note saying, "I have a gun give me all the money from the register please, and no one will get hurt," Newark Public Safety Director Brian A. Newark High School Students Injured In Hit-Run Bus Crash
Five students and two adults were injured in a hit-and-run school bus crash Saturday afternoon in Newark. The bus from was carrying 13 people including West Side High School students when it was struck at Springfield Avenue and South 11th Street by a black Audi SUV, a Newark police spokeswoman said. The Audi driver fled the scene and seven people reported pain, authorities said. Further details were not released.The incident remains under investigation.

Boonton Police Pursuit Ends In Newark Crash: Two Caught, Gun Reportedly Waved Out Window
Two people were in custody and one remained at large after a winding, pre-dawn Boonton pursuit Sunday ended in a crash in Newark, authorities said. The pursuit first went through several towns to Hillside and then back north through several streets into Newark, responders said.
