Teen Killed In Boating Accident Was Rising Rutgers Freshman
More information has come to light about the 18-year-old Wayne resident killed in a boating accident over the weekend in Harvey Cedars. Zeina Mahafzah was days away from beginning her freshman year at Rutgers University, as classes start on Tuesday, Sept. 2. According to university spokeswoman Dory Devlin, Zeina was enrolled in the School of Arts and Sciences–Newark. Teen Girl Dismembered In Boating Accident Off NJ Coast, Report Says
A boating accident was under investigation at a New Jersey beach, police said Sunday, Aug. 25. Harvey Cedars police did not detail that accident and said only that it was "tragic" and under investigation with New Jersey State Police. According to NBC Philadelphia citing a source, a teen girl was dismembered after being run over by the boat, operated by her father. A suspected tornado ripped through a Jersey Shore town Thursday night, damaging 35 homes, several boats and injuring several people, police said. Three 9-1-1 calls came in at 9:22 p.m. in Long Beach Island, reporting roofs ripped off multiple houses and downed utility poles. More than two dozen Jersey Shore lifeguards tested positive for COVID-19 after attending social gatherings, reports say. The lifeguards are natives of Surf City, Harvey Cedars and surrounding areas on Long Beach Island, NBC New York reports. A total of 17 Harvey Cedars lifeguards tested positive after attending a Surf City gathering. A dozen from Surf City also tested positive, the report said.
