Pascack Valley Art Students Visit Philly's Barnes Foundation

HILLSDALE, N.J. -- Students from Pascack Valley and Pascack Hills high schools recently made a trip to Philadelphia, to the Barnes Foundation, with its extensive collection of impressionist, post-impressionist and early-modern masterpieces.

Students in enrolled in Christine Steinmetz' AP Art History and Stephanie DiGiacopo's AP Studio Art classes were able to take this visually stunning trip.

The collection features works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Henri Rousseau, Amedeo Modigliani, Chaim Soutine and Giorgio de Chirico -- as well as American masters Charles Demuth, William Glackens, Horace Pippin and Maurice Prendergast.

The Barnes Foundation was established by Albert Barnes in 1922 to "promote the advancement of education and the appreciation of the fine arts and horticulture."
