MONTVALE, N.J. -- Raymond W. Rogers, 93, of Montvale, formerly of Leonia, died Monday, Sept. 21, at home.
Rogers was born in Union City in 1922, and his family later moved to Jersey City, where he graduated as valedictorian from Dickinson High School. He served in the U.S. Army in the 6th Battalion Combat Engineers.
He then attended night classes at Stevens and New York University. Rogers was co-owner with his brother, George, of Wortmann Machine Works Inc., of Teterboro, until retiring in 2004. He loved salmon fishing and traveled every year to Iceland, where he made many good friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, George E. Rogers Sr., of Upper Saddle River.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Grace (nee Butcher); a daughter, Linda Alisio; his sons, Raymond and his wife, Lesli, and Gary and his wife, Aimee; his grandchildren, Jeff Rogers and his wife, Donna, Lisa Alisio, Steven Rogers, James Alisio and his wife, Emily, Madeline and Christian Rogers; his great-grandchilren, Harry, Caitlin and Tyler Rogers; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours are from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 8 p.m. at the Robert Spearing Funeral Home Inc., 155 Kinderkamack Road, Park Ridge.
