Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Arthur and Vivian Nilsen.
He was a 57-year member of the New York City Carpenter Union Local #296 and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his children, Chris, John, Joan, Vivian, Jimmy and Billy; grandchildren, TJ, Nicole, Vinny, Toni, Michael, Joey, Johnny and Katie; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Paisley; and his new in-laws Erika and Martha and old in-laws Beth and Fred and ex-in-laws (too many to name).
Memorial visitation and service will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Robert Spearing Funeral Home Inc., 155 Kinderkamack Road, Park Ridge.
