Dominic Santucci, 91, Of Hillsdale

HILLSDALE, N.J. -- Dominic Santucci, 91, of Hillsdale, died Friday, Sept. 2. He was 91. 

He was born in the Morrisania section of the Bronx in 1924. He lived in Hillsdale for 48 years.

He was a master butcher, starting his chosen profession at age 8. For the last 25 years, in his "retirement," he was a regular at his son Michaels' butcher shop, Karl Ehmer in Hillsdale. 

He served in the Third Infantry Division, 719th Tank Battalion in World War II. His hobbies were growing his beloved "percoco" peaches and hard work. 

He is survived by his wife Dolores; sons Richard and Michael; grandchildren Richard A. Santucci, D.C., Anthony, Michelle, Michael and Dominic; sister Josephine; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister Mary Romano; and brother Angelo. 

The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union St., Hackensack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m at St. John The Baptist R.C. Church, 69 Valley St., Hillsdale. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, N.Y. Visiting hours will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Columbians of New Jersey, An Italian American Philanthropic Organization, c/o Anthony J, Graceffo, Esq., 555 Main St., Hackensack.
