The four-phase project is expected to be completed next spring.

Phase 1, slated to finish around Nov. 19, has reduced traffic on Rivervale Road to one lane while shrubs and trees are cleared from the east side of the street.

After that, no traffic will be able to pass through the portion of Rivervale Road from Old Tappan Road south to Piermont Avenue for approximately two months, weather depending.

An east detour will take traffic through Old Tappan while a west detour will take it through western River Vale/Hillsdale and Park Ridge.

Eastern Detour: Old Tappan Road to Washington Avenue to Westwood Avenue

Western Detour: Prospect Avenue, Ruckman Road, Piermont Avenue
