River Vale Holocaust Survivor Abraham Peck, 91, Dies

RIVER VALE, N.J. — Holocaust survivor Abraham “Abe” Peck of River Vale died Thursday, Aug. 25 at 91 years old.

The former Fair Lawn and Paterson resident was born in Szadek, Poland. Though several of Peck’s immediate family members passed away in the Holocaust, he met his future wife and fellow survivor — the late Helen Peck — in Germany after being liberated at the end of 1949.

The couple immigrated to Paterson with support from the Jewish Community Council, where Peck was an active member of the Jewish community, especially the Independent Lodzer Young Men, serving as its president for many years.

Peck later became very active with the Fair Lawn Jewish Center in Fair Lawn, was honored by the Fair Lawn Jewish Center for his many philanthropic contributions as well as his history as a Holocaust Survivor.

He is survived by his son, Jacob Peck and his wife, Susan of West Caldwell; his grandchildren, David Peck and his wife, Sarah; Lauren Pricer and her husband, Edward; great-grandchildren Elise, Timothy and Holly.

Services were held Monday.
