A Court of Honor installed Gregory Diogo Almeida, Michael Benjamin Sawitz, and Jacob Arnak Waldron on Sunday.
For his service project, Almeida, now a student at New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, created a preliminary Environmental Resource Inventory (ERI) and an initial Natural Resource Database for the borough.
Only a few New Jersey municipalities have an ERI, which is a descriptive and visual account of the current natural characteristics of a place, including historical sites, brownfields, and contaminated sites. The resource database, covering public lands, logs tree count, types of trees, and animals sighted on the lands.
Sawitz, whose scouting career began in 2010, has earned 49 merit badges and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow, the national honor society of scouting. He attended the 2015 World Jamboree in Yamaguchi, Japan, with more than 34,000 Scouts from 150 countries.
He built a storage shed at the Fieldstone school, complete with shelving, skylights and a locking door, for various athletic equipment.
Waldron is in the middle of a five-year, CPA-track program at Rutgers University.
He built a retaining wall and horseshoe recreation area for the American Legion, which sponsors Troop 334. Additionally, he and his team constructed benches, planters, and a fence to spruce up the area.
Including the three young men, Troop 334 has produced 75 Eagle Scouts since 1965.
