BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. — Parents of special education children are invited to “Building Blocks of Special Education Advocacy” at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Atrium of Mack-Cali Corporate Center in Woodcliff Lake. The free annual workshop is presented by Price, Meese, Shulman and D’Arminio, special education law practice group.

Karen Edler and Michelle Krone will walk parents through the various aspects of special education, including:

  • IEP and 504 plan review and guidance
  • Advocating for your child
  • Mediation and due process
  • Disciplinary and HIB cases
  • Special needs trusts and planning
  • Guardianship

Edler got into special education law 19 years ago while advocating for her son in the Ramsey school district. Krone is a former teacher in the Westwood school district.

This is the fifth year the free workshop has been offered.

“You have to have a passion for the field to help people with disabilities and to represent parents,” Edler said. “We both love what we do.”

Mack-Cali Corporate Center is at 50 Tice Boulevard. To RSVP,  call 201-391-3737 or e-mail specialed@pricemeese.com.
