At 8:45 p.m., NJ Transit announced major impacts across multiple rail lines due to weather-related conditions. Severe flooding left cars underwater with drivers stranded, and thousands without power. Some of those areas include Route 22 in Scotch Plains, local streets in Cranford, Edgewater, and Teaneck, Route 287, and Route 78. Tornado Hits Central NY Amid Storms That Killed 3, Including Young Sisters
A tornado hit central New York during storms that killed at least three people, including twin sisters. The twister in the Oneida County hamlet of Clark Mills had peak estimated winds of 105 miles per hour, traveling 2.43 miles, starting at 3:58 a.m., and ending at 4:03 a.m. Sunday, June 22. "This tornado unfortunately resulted in three fatalities, due to trees falling into their homes," The National Weather Service in Binghamton. Freak Accident Kills Boy, 12, Playing In NJ Backyard: Police
A New Jersey boy was killed when a tree fell on him in a backyard, authorities said. Lucas Schwartz, 12, was identified as the victim of the Eldridge Avenue incident in Lawrence Township on a GoFundMe page. Police said he'd been playing with a friend in the backyard of a home when gusty winds blew the tree over, and it fell onto him around 12:09 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. Officers freed Schwartz from under the tree and began CPR. Paramedics rushed Lucas to Capital Health System Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead from his injuries. The Lawrence …

Hundreds Without Power In Bergen County As Storm Intensifies
Thousands of New Jersey residents were without power as of Tuesday evening, Jan. 9, as the storm intensified. A State of Emergency ordered by Gov. Phil Murphy went into effect at 5 p.m., with state and local officials urging residents to stay off the roads. As of 7:25 p.m., more than 2,000 residents in Hunterdon County were in the dark, according to JCP&L, including 123 in Delaware; 729 in Lambertville City; 733 in Raritan; 437 in West Amwell, and more. Dangerous winds will pummel nearly all of New Jersey and Rockland County on Monday, the National Weather Service warned. A high wind watch was issued Sunday for all but the state's northwest corner, with a sustained speed of 20 to 30 miles an hour -- and guests as high as 60 mph -- expected. Glen Rock Train Station Tree Topples
Somewhere in a row of SUVs parked at the train station in Glen Rock was one covered by a fallen tree Monday morning. High winds with extreme gusts downed trees and snapped branches in various areas of North Jersey overnight. Workers were out removing debris and sawing fallen trees for disposal.
