The body of an audio engineer from West New York who'd gone missing earlier this month was found in his van parked outside an Englewood day care center on Friday, multiple responders said. Investigators said they don't suspect any wrongdoing in the death of Lestor Tabora, 31, whose body was found near the corner of William Street and West Linden Avenue. Police: Mugger Bites Man Walking Dog In Englewood
An Englewood man walking his dog was bitten by a mugger who was later caught while the victim was reporting the incident, authorities said. The resident said the stranger approached and "engaged him in a conversation about his dog" on West Englewood Avenue and William Street shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, Lt. Fred Pulice said. When he turned to walk away, he said, the would-be robber "grabbed him from behind and began reaching into his pockets." Detectives were seeking witnesses and/or surveillance video recorded between 8:45 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday at the 100-unit Martin Luther King Gardens complex at William Street and West Englewood Avenue, Detective Capt. A 45-year-old roofer from Englewood was charged in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured two people on Halloween, authorities said Friday. Giovanny Forero-Gomez was charged with assault by auto and knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in serious bodily injury in connection with the Oct. 31 crash on William Street, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. Englewood police avoided a potential tragedy when they calmly captured an ex-con who used his two children as human shields after assaulting his ex-girlfriend and causing a hit-and-run crash that hospitalized a pizza delivery man, authorities said.
