Crash At Busy Paramus Intersection Sends SUV Driver To Hospital A driver was hospitalized following an afternoon crash at a busy Paramus intersection. The unidentified driver's Nissan Murano slammed into a Honda Accord at the corner of Paramus Road and West Ridgewood Avenue around 2:15 p.m. Friday. Paramus firefighters and EMS workers extricated the man, who was taken by the EMS unit to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. His condition couldn't immediately be determined. A passing Valley Hospital EMS unit also stopped to assist, responders said.

Evacuations Ordered After Struck Canister Releases 'Vapor Cloud' Near Hawthorne Ballfield A "vapor cloud" released when a work crew accidentally punctured a buried canister containing a volatile chemical near a Hawthorne ballfield on Thursday. More than three dozen people were evacuated from nearby homes and businesses while the state DEP recovered the canister, which contained Methyltrichlorosilane, in an auxiliary parking lot, police Detective Sgt.
