Justice Department Considers Whether Murphy, Cuomo COVID Nursing Home Policies Killed Thousands
U.S. Justice Department officials said they are trying to determine whether COVID-19 policies of New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo “may have resulted in the deaths of thousands of elderly nursing home residents." Federal authorities said they hadn't launched an investigation. Rather, they said, they're conducting preliminary inquiries into COVID policies in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Michigan while considering a possible civil rights investigation under a federal law that protects the rights of residents in state-run nursing homes, among others. Alyssa's Law: Bill to Improve School Security Headed To Senate
A proposed school safety bill honoring former Woodcliff Lake teen Alyssa Alhadeff who died in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting cleared the New Jersey Assembly Monday and is headed to the Senate for further consideration. Alyssa's Law: Panic Alarms May Go In New Jersey Schools
A proposed bill to install panic alarms and red emergency lights in New Jersey schools honors former Woodcliff Lake teen Alyssa Alhadeff who died in the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Fla. The bill (A-764) was passed Monday by the Assembly Education Committee in Trenton.
