Murphy Friday. Garden State Plaza Reveals Overhaul Plan The Westfield Garden State Plaza that many shoppers have come to know and love could have a very different look. The mall's owners recently revealed a plan to repurpose three vacant spaces at the mall and bring a new downtown to Paramus, according to report by NorthJersey.com and the USA Today Network. A redevelopment of the mall's former J.C. Penney, Uniqlo and freestanding Best Buy will kick off the project as the first phase, the report says. Closed! Uniqlo Leaves Garden State Plaza Uniqlo has closed its Garden State Plaza location. The store is planning on moving to a smaller location in Paramus Park Mall later this year, next to the former Sears department store. Commonly known as the "Japanese Gap," Uniqlo has shuttered several other stores in the past few years (including the lower level at the GSP) at the Palisades Center Mall along with others in Staten Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and more. No word yet on the store's GSP replacement.
