Two Georgia men who said they'd driven up to visit family ended up arrested instead after Fairview police said they found a pair of loaded handguns in their car.
Officer Sebastian Castano stopped the 2014 Ford Mustang near the corner of 91st Street and Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen.
Castano, backed up by Officer Tommy Makdis, questioned the pair after a Glock 19 was spotted in plain view as the driver, Desmond A. Fitzpatrick, 25, retrieved his paperwork from the glove compartment, Capt. Michael Martic said.

A father and son have been charged in a stabbing a North Bergen motel that's been going viral on TikTok, NJ Advance Media reports.
Joel Garcia, 48, and Joevannie Garcia, 18, were charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses following the incident Sunday, Nov. 20, at the Lincoln Tunnel Motel on Tonnelle Avenue, the outlet said citing police. Both lived at the hotel along with the 35-year-old victim, who was also arrested.
The argument began when the victim made a comment about a girlfriend, the outlet said quoting North Bergen police.

Bergen County Motorcyclist Killed In North Bergen Crash Was 'Angel, Family Rock'
A 31-year-old Bergen County motorcyclist died in a North Bergen crash on Labor Day Weekend, authorities confirmed.
Roger Oliveira, of Cliffside Park, was heading north on Tonnelle Avenue at a high rate of speed when he struck the back of a car, ejected him around 5 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, the Hudson County View reports citing local police.
Oliveira was then run over by a second car, police told HCV. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
